Did you know that the Sandia granite is one of the oldest rocks in New Mexico while the Sandia Mountains themselves are young and still rising? What do New Mexico and East Africa have in common? Have you wondered about the geological history of the Bisti Badlands, El Morro or the Mogollon Wilderness? Learn to “read the record in the rocks” as well as the amazing story of the unique, dynamic geology of New Mexico. This course is offered in partnership with The Institute for Lifelong Learning for New Mexicans with registration through both organizations.

Friday, February 20, 2009 - Thursday, April 30, 2009 Former NBA player Mike “Stinger” Glenn will present the exhibit which includes artifacts from African American sports icons such as Muhammad Ali, Hank Aaron, Florence Griffith Joyner, Jessie Owens and Joe Louis. The exhibit captures the essence of the African American experience as played out on the baseball diamonds, football fields, boxing rings, horse tracks and other significant venues of American and world sports. Beginning with Tom Molineaux, a freed slave who received international acclaim when he fought the World Heavyweight Champion Tom Cribb in 1810 and 1811, the exhibit features other notable items including Issac Burns Murphy, the first jockey to win three Kentucky Derbies; Marshall Taylor; a bicyclist who became the first American born black man to win a national title in any sport; and Wilma Rudolph, the first American woman to win three gold medals in one Olympics.

He will speak on “Space, Place and the Long-Term Photographic Project" as part of a lecture series for Through the Lens: Creating Santa Fe. The Ferrari Exhibit

Tuesday, February 10, 2009 - Monday, March 01, 2010 An exhibit of spectacular photographs, depicting the history of the famed Ferrari automobile will be on display at the Unser Racing Museum. The traveling show has been provided by the Instituto Italiano de Cultura. Ferrari, famed for performance on the world’s race tracks and honored for its elegant designs, has a storied history in the annuals of automobile manufacturing. "To put this wonderful exhibit in our Museum, next to our other attractions, is an unusual opportunity for New Mexicans to experience," adds Al Unser, Sr. Unser family members Al Sr., Bobby Sr. and Al Jr. have won nine Indianapolis 500 races and numerous other important races throughout the world.

The US had strong interest in the stabilization of Mexico at the least, and outright invasion and annexation at the most. The images of the Mexican Revolution and the US Punitive Expedition in this exhibit are selected from a photo album that was compiled by Captain Donald A. Young of the US 7th Cavalry and contains 201 photographs of people and events on the border between the US and Mexico during the period of the Mexican Revolution.

There is one seed for each Jewish life snuffed out: 1.5 million children; 4.5 million adults and 5 million non-Jews including Jehovah’s witnesses, gypsies, homosexual men, Polish citizens, and the mentally ill.

Saturday, June 02, 2007 - Tuesday, June 02, 2009 Visitors to the museum will be thrilled to find themselves face to face with the gaping jaw of the second largest T-Rex ever found (in full attack mode) as they round the corner of the Museum Atrium. The Tyrannosaurus Rex (nicknamed Stan) is one of the largest predatory dinosaurs of all time. Stan was a powerful, agile, bipedal killing machine, 40-feet long and 12 feet high at the hips, weighing roughly 6 tons. He hunted with an acute sense of smell, 3-D vision and great speed powered by huge and muscular hind legs.
